    Life and Work

Finn Ickler was born in 1994 in Hesse, Germany into a creative household. He started Photographing in 2014 using a Canon EOS 400D. In 2016 he acquired a Minolta 7000 AF and started to take analogue photos. His output ramped up steadily until he started photographing full time between 2022 and 2023. Finn Ickler’s output is strongly conceptual and categorical. Major themes in his work include Public Transport, indirect capture through mirrors and reflections and abstract compositions. Examples include taking a photo of each Metro Station in Berlin or taking a self portrait by exposing the same image 50 times.

    Photographic technique

Finn Ickler likes to use vintage or expired film stocks, either as a connection to the depicted motif or to intentionally degrade and discolor the image. Multiple exposure Photography is used to layer the same object onto the image multiple times or to create a story in one image.
